Parents of our patients with Autism -Speak Out!

Video editing is not the easiest trick to learn, but I’ve done it!

A few of the parents of the children in our Microcurrent Study of how the Electro-Proscope 360 device is effective in treating Autism volunteered to be in our parent testimonial video.  If you have a child, or know someone, with Autsim, you’ll understand just how powerful these parents’ stories are….

Our recent month of Family-Fun

Traditionally, August is the month all about Family Fun, and so this month MC4K wanted to share a few of the fun family moments that have taken place as a direct result of our Microcurrent treatments for Autism! These are all recent quotes from the parents and participants in our ongoing research study…

“Before (Microcurrent), he hardly ever said anything –just mostly screams and squeals. Now he talks so much there are days I have a hard time getting him to stop talking! (laughs) Oh and now his school is adding Speech Therapy back onto his IEP –they took it off last November because for 3 years he made no progress.” –Mom of 8 yr old with Autism.

“He’s developed such a great affinity for sarcasm! Before (Microcurrent), my son just seemed ‘out to lunch’ and unaware of what was going on with everyone else in the room. Now he’s got all these funny comments he interjects into our conversations! His personality is just blossoming!” -Mom of 10 yr old with Asperger’s.

“She is advocating for herself now! Like her Dad turned the data off of her phone the other day –because she was using too much for her music. Before she would have just dealt with not having her music. But she actually asked him ‘Why did you take that away? Why can’t I have music on my phone?’ Now that he explained it, they worked it out so she understands when to use her music (with wi-fi) and when not to.” –Mom of 15yr old with Autism

“He never wanted anyone to play with him before (Microcurrent), now he’ll seek out his sister and invite her to play with him sometimes. The other day he did this, she told him she wanted to finish what she was doing and he said ‘Ok, I’ll wait for you.’” –Mom of 7 yr old with Autism.

“She used to always be in her own world –like she had on blinders. Now she notices things going on with the family … Like the other night I was feeling tired and she said to me ‘Oh, you just sit and rest. I’ll do the dishes.’ That’s never happened before!” –Mom of 12 yr old with Asperger’s.

“She’ll brush her own teeth and get ready for bed and all that now. The whole routine –I just say go get ready for bed and she does! Before (Microcurrent) I would have to do everything for her –like a toddler- and kind of like dragging her through each step –because she didn’t want to do any of it or something.” –Mom of a 10 yr old with Autism.

“He had speech therapy for years and years, but he’s never been able to form words –just grunts and other sounds.” (MC4K tech told Mom to work on requiring him to make a noise –any noise- for the things he indicates he wants. Mom remembered this technique from his Speech Therapists.) During one of his treatment sessions, the patient pointed at the toy he wanted to use during his therapy session and his mom prompted him by saying “You say it, what is it you would like?” The participant said “iPad” so clearly! -10 yr old with Autism.

These and the many other stories of our participants making exciting advancements is what inspires MC4K to continue sharing Microcurrent treatments with the rest of the Autism community.

Concussions: A Follow-Up to Safety Awareness Month

42-15487553Each year, thousands of children and teens suffer a concussion — and only about half are sports related.  A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) caused by a blow or jolt to the head or body that causes the brain to shake, and possibly hit the inside of the skull. The shaking and/or hit against the skull may impact the brain’s ability to function and can result in serious side effects. Surprisingly, only 10 percent of children with concussions report “being knocked out”, or loosing consciousness. Some of the symptoms of a concussion can appear immediately after the injury, while others may not show up for several days.

Your child should ALWAYS see a primary care doctor if you think s/he has a concussion. The primary care physician can discuss symptoms and help you create a plan of care.  That plan will consist of physical and mental rest.  It is important to allow sufficient time for the brain to rest, so that it is able to heal.  Your child should stay home from school until the symptoms are significantly improved. You will need to reintroduce mental activity slowly, as your child feels better. Your pediatrician can help guide this gradual process.

However, missing school for any length of time (and not doing homework to stay current) can be a huge set back -not just academically, but emotionally as well.  The best way to speed healing of the brain after a concussion is to have your child treated with a course of microcurrent therapy.  MicroCurrent Healing and MicroCurrent 4 Kids uses the most advanced microcurrent devices on the market, equipped with technology that seeks out damaged tissue and auto-corrects it’s signal to send the most beneficial and healing current directly to the areas that need it the most. No other treatment can do this!  The results are a quicker recovery, less time missed from school, and far fewer concerns about the potential long-term consequences of this type of injury.

June is Safety Awareness Month

So I am sharing some summer sport safety tips to keep your child playing hard all summer long!

Protective Gear –Helmets are obviously the number one used protective item.  And most parents are sure to buy them for their kids when they get new bikes, scooters, or skateboards.  However, as your child’s skill set and confidence grows, he/she may be more likely to stop wearing a helmet, or stop wearing it correctly.  Regularly check-in with your kids and re-emphasize the importance of continuing to use helmets, and of fastening the straps.  Wearing a helmet with an unbuckled chinstrap is like not wearing a helmet at all.

Warming Up –Your job as a parent is to set your child up for a win –literally and figuratively.  Arriving prior to a practice or game with enough time to allow your child to jog for a few minutes and stretch will ensure your child’s body is set up to win.  Slow, gradual stretching helps lengthen muscles and increases circulation and muscle temperature. That way, your child’s muscles are ready to go and are much less likely to get hurt.

Staying Hydrated –When compared to adults, kids are at an increased risk of becoming dehydrated.  In part, because their bodies are less effective at sweating yet they can produce more heat during exercise.  And I’m sure you know from watching your kids play, they often get so wrapped up in what they’re doing that they forget to break for a drink.  That’s why it’s important for parents to help them stay hydrated.  Look for creative ways to encourage your child to drink water throughout the day and at meal times, not just during physical activity.

Don’t let them Play when they’re Injured -This is a really important one. If your child loves sports, it’s tempting to let him/her get right back in the game, even after an injury. But allowing them to play when they’re hurt — or before an injury has had a chance to fully heal — is a bad idea. It can lead to an even worse injury, one that might sideline him/her for a very long time.  You should seek appropriate medical care, but you can also look into ways to help your child heal faster!  MicrocurrentHealing has helped many student athletes get back on the field, MUCH faster than if they had only followed their doctor’s orders for ice, rest, and elevation.  Click here to read about this amazing, safe, and non-invasive technique.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month

Here at Microcurrent4kids we want to share with you important information about your child’s mental health as well as the ways we treat mental conditions. Keeping in step with Mental Health Awareness, our focus this month will be on ADHD.
ADHD, the acronym for Attention Deficiency Hyperactivity Disorder, is often experienced in children from a tender age. These children usually experience hyperactivity, difficulty in staying focused, paying attention and controlling impulsive behaviors. As such, kids struggling with ADHD are at a high risk for academic difficulties. Some of the causes of ADHD include genetics, environmental factors and brain injuries.
Our genetic makeup effects us in every way you may think of. From our skin complexion to our toes nails, all of these features have been inherited from our parents who got them from their parents. Similarly, some diseases and conditions can be inherited -including ADHD. Environmental Factors also influence our mental health. From what we eat, where we live, the conditions in our homes, schools and the society at large influences our mental health and thus our behavior. Brain injuries can also be the source of ADHD. Though very rare in young children, brain injuries can cause damage to the brain, altering behavior and the mental capacity of the child.

ADHD
It is crucial to have your child checked out if you are suspicious of a sudden change in behavior, either in lack of concentration or lack of behavioral inhibition. Our program is designed to help your child grow and develop by managing and possibly extinguishing any such conditions.   Read more at http://microcurrent4kids.com/science.html

April is Autism Awareness Month

So this month I am discussing the research and development of our Autism treatment protocols.

Autism
All humans have several brain wavelengths, or frequencies, used at various times throughout a given day. The most commonly used wavelengths are referred to as delta, theta, alpha, and beta. Recent EEG studies of children with severe Autism, high-functioning Autism, and typically-developing children, have found strong patterns in the brain wavelengths of those three groups. These patterns show that children with high-functioning Autism and their typically-developing peers use very similar wavelengths at similar times, but most importantly they use alpha most frequently. Conversely, children with severe Autism use alpha the very least. Therefore our treatment protocols are focused on the alpha wavelength, training the patient’s brain to use the alpha frequency more often, and independently. Coupled with the natural detoxification that occurs with microcurrent treatment, this alpha frequency therapy shows great promise with lasting improvements for our patients!
